How to Set Up Trapster® With the Dash Express
Trapster® is now integrated with the Dash Express! You can check trap alerts in your area, and report new traps you see to other members of the Trapster® community! Here's how to get started using your Dash Express with Trapster®:
Log in to your account on the Dash Web site.
Search for "trapster" in Saved Searches. You will see six results. One returns a list of alerts in your area or along your route, one sets up an active alert area for up to one hour ahead along your route, and the other four are for the various types of traps you can report. Note: you must add each of these six Saved Searches individually.
Add all six types of Trapster® Saved Searches. Each time you will be taken to the Trapster® site and asked to confirm. If you are reading this page, you already have a Trapster® account. If you did not have a Trapster® account, you would be prompted to create one.
After you have it set up, you can:
Customize your preferences for your Dash Express such as alert area sizes, types of traps you would like alerts for, and confidence filters for traps. You can do all that here on the Dash Configuration page
Check traps in your area or along your route on the Dash Express by pressing "Search", and then the Trapster® Find Traps Now button, and then then either the "nearby" or "along route" button. Traps will be displayed in a list of results.
Set an active alert area along your route by pressing "search", then Trapster® Alert Me Along Route, and then "along route". The Dash Express will then say "Route based alert area set". Alerts will be delivered either directly to your Dash Express using Send2Car, as configured here, or to your mobile phone via text messages with links to maps as configured here, or both. Obviously you will not likely have your desktop computer in the car, but if you like you can view this route based alert area on this page after you have set it. The route based alert area expires after one hour, or when you enter a new active route based alert area.
View individual traps on the map by pressing "Route" on each individual result.
Report traps you see on the Dash Express by pressing "Search", and then one of the Trapster® Report Live Police, Report Red Light Camera, Report Speed Camera, or Report Hiding Place buttons, and then "Nearby".
